Job Description

Company Overview:

We're on a mission to transform the internet for the better. Our team of innovative hackers, visionary futurists, and passionate nerds is devoted to creating a digital space that's safe, inclusive, and empowers everyone. By developing the world's first zero-knowledge virtual machine, we've laid the groundwork for running arbitrary code as a zero-knowledge proof. Now, we're ambitiously constructing an entire ecosystem around this groundbreaking technology. We have raised a total of $54 million and announced our $40 million Series A funding round in July 2023.

To ensure effective collaboration and seamless communication across our global team, all candidates must be available to overlap with the Pacific Standard Time (PST) zone for at least 3 hours during regular business hours. This requirement is essential for maintaining efficient workflow, participating in team meetings, and facilitating timely responses to customer inquiries and internal requests.

About the Role:

As the Developer Relations Advocate, your role will be two-fold: a coder who understands the intricate world of ZK/Blockchain technology and a communicator who can effectively disseminate this knowledge. You will bridge the gap between our tech teams and the broader developer community, ensuring our technological advancements are both accessible and impactful. This position will see you at the helm of developer-focused hackathons and conferences worldwide, and on the frontlines of promoting Risc Zero and our initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your strong technical background to engage with developers at various events, articulating the practical applications and benefits of our offerings.

  • Community Engagement: Establish and nurture a vibrant, supportive developer community around our technology, fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

  • Product Advocacy: Represent the voice of the developer community internally, providing feedback and insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.

  • Developer Support: Provide developers with the necessary tools and resources, including well-documented guides and tutorials, ensuring our technology is accessible and easy to implement.

  • Participation in Global Events: Attend developer-focused hackathons and conferences worldwide, promoting our technology, and engaging with the developer community.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

  • 💡 Innovative: Passion for blockchain technology and its potential applications, and a desire to help shape its future.

  • 🗣 Communicative: Excellent interpersonal skills with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts in an understandable manner.

  • 🤝 Collaborative: Ability to work closely with various internal and external stakeholders, promoting a harmonious relationship between our tech teams and the developer community.

  • ⏱ Proactive: Self-directed with excellent time management skills, able to balance the demands of a fast-paced startup environment.

  • 🧩 Problem Solver: Excellent problem-solving abilities, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a drive for perfection.

  • 🌍 Global Mindset: Open to travel every other month and engage with a diverse range of people and cultures.

  • 3+ years of coding experience, preferably with Rust

  • Interest or experience in blockchain and ZK tech

  • Strong background in open-source development is desirable

  • Experience in a Developer Relations role is a plus

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $174,000 - $205,200

  • This role is remote with the ability to travel up to 20% for team ‘onsite’ meetings.

  • We have an Industrious co-working space in Seattle, with the flexibility to rent in other locations.

  • Health insurance: United Healthcare Choice Plus (medical dental, vision, HSA) 85% premium coverage for employees, 75% for dependents.

  • 401k

  • Generous company equity: vesting immediately each month.

  • Paid time off: Unlimited (3-5 weeks is the norm)

  • 11 paid holidays, sick leave, etc.

  • A supportive and collaborative work environment.

  • Leadership Coaching and opportunities for professional growth, learning, and development.
