Job Description

About the Role:

As a Founding Smart Contract Engineer, you will take ownership of designing, implementing, and optimizing the core smart contracts powering a decentralized system. This is a hands-on technical role where you will be writing Solidity at the deepest level, designing solver-based execution models, and ensuring on-chain verification remains efficient and scalable.

You’ll be one of the first engineers on the team, with high ownership and autonomy to shape the technical direction. If you’re excited about building at the frontier of Web3 infrastructure, this is your chance to lead from the ground up.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design & Develop Smart Contracts: Architect secure, gas-efficient Solidity contracts to power a generalized intent-based execution framework.
  • Create Optimistic Verification Systems: Implement optimistic execution verification to ensure trust-minimized solver fulfillment.
  • Design Auction-Based Execution Mechanisms: Build a competitive solver marketplace where agents bid to execute intents, similar to batch auctions in MEV-aware protocols.
  • Implement Multi-Chain Coordination: Enable cross-chain execution with efficient settlement mechanisms.
  • Optimize On-Chain Efficiency: Ensure low-cost execution while maintaining strong security guarantees.
  • Own the Engineering Stack: Define the smart contract architecture while integrating off-chain coordination layers as needed.

About You

You are a Solidity engineer who understands execution at scale, from auction-based solvers to cross-chain coordination. You’ve worked in DeFi, MEV, or cross-chain protocols and know the challenges of gas optimization, calldata compression, and trust-minimized execution.

You think in first principles, not just existing designs. You want to architect systems from scratch, define execution models, and build a decentralized solver network that optimizes intent fulfillment.

You thrive in lean, high-ownership environments where engineers drive decisions. You embrace early-stage ambiguity because it means shaping a new paradigm in decentralized execution.

This is for someone excited to solve unsolved Web3 infrastructure problems and help define the future of intent-based execution.

About the Client:

This is an opportunity to join an early-stage, well-funded Web3 startup tackling one of the most complex and exciting problems in decentralized execution. The company is backed by leading investors in crypto infrastructure and is led by a Harvard alum with a strong vision for scaling decentralized coordination.

They are building a generalized intent-based execution network, enabling decentralized agents to compete to fulfill on-chain and off-chain transactions efficiently, securely, and trust-minimally. The project takes inspiration from solver-based models used in DeFi aggregators, MEV infrastructure, and cross-chain execution frameworks.
